University Planning and Design

Harvard University Planning and Design (HUPAD), in collaboration with the Schools, develops and regularly updates an integrated, University-wide campus plan, working to ensure that every corner of campus – Cambridge, Allston, the Longwood Medical Area (LMA), and the regional areas like the Arnold Arboretum – is situated within a cohesive planning strategy in support of the University’s academic and research mission, as well as ongoing partnerships with surrounding neighborhoods and cities.

The Chief of University Planning and Design also plays a critical role in implementing Harvard’s campus sustainability goals and the emerging necessity to assess campus planning needs in light of changing patterns in the use of campus spaces as well as in the workplace.
